T-Mobile: Android-based Sidekick 4G, Samsung Galaxy S 4G on the way (updated)

T-Mobile USA’s CEO Philipp Humm dropped two big product confirmations today. We can expect both a Samsung Galaxy S 4G (predictable) and an Android-based Sidekick 4G (not-so-predictable).

Hopefully this is a major comeback for the Sidekick, which was kicked to the curb last summer. The version of Android wasn’t specified, but it can’t be any less than Gingerbread. (At least we hope not.)

Humm didn’t get anymore specific on a release date other than “coming soon,” but we should be seeing more about these during Mobile World Congress in February.

UPDATE: Samsung has issued a press release regarding the Galaxy S 4G. Touted to be “the fastest smartphone running on America’s Largest 4G Network” when released, the Android 2.2-based device will have download speeds up to 21 Mbps and a Super AMOLED touch screen display. And that’s about all we know for now.

[NOTE: The product in the image above is the Sidekick LX, not the Sidekick 4G.]
