VCE exam results out today: Big day for final-year high school students

MORE than 89,000 students will be able to access their Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) exam results today.

Education Minister Martin Dixon congratulated some 50,000 students who completed the VCE and the 9876 students who received the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning.

Mr Dixon thanked parents and teachers for supporting students throughout the year.

"Completing the VCE or VCAL is a remarkable achievement which requires a lot of hard work, dedication and sacrifice," Mr Dixon said.

"I'd also like to congratulate all those students who persisted with their studies throughout the year, even when the going got tough."

Students who didn't get the marks they were hoping for should speak with their teachers and school careers counsellors, Mr Dixon said.

"There are many, many ways to obtain your goals - this is not the end of the world, there are a lot of pathways to pursue," he said.

To access VCE results via SMS on a mobile phone, pre-registered students can receive a message which costs $1.10 max, including GST.

Students should text their student number and their PIN to 19 787 888.

A free internet service is available at 24 hours a day from 7am (AEDT) today.

Results will also begin to arrive in the mail tomorrow for students who prefer the traditional method.

Students have until December 20 to change their university and TAFE course preferences.
